"Postmortem" by Amelia Community Theatre--August 12-14, 19-21, 26-28, 2010

A clever Ken Ludwig thriller, "Postmortem" is packed with suspects, shots in the dark, a séance, and darkly held secrets. William Gillette, the real-life actor whose signature role was Sherlock Holmes, is entertaining the cast of his current play at his Connecticut mansion. It is the anniversary of the murder there of his actress-fiancée, and now it seems that someone wants to kill Gillette. Performances are at 8 p.m. each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from August 12 through August 28. There is also a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, August 22. Tickets are $17 for adults and $10 for students. Great Southern Tailgate Cook-off--August 27, 2010

Join us for the Inaugural Great Southern Tailgate Cook-Off to be held Friday August 27 and Saturday August 28 on Amelia Island. More than 40 cooking teams from across the country will compete for up to $20,000 in cash and prizes. Classical Still Life Painting Artists Workshop--September 24–25, 2010

The Leah Lopez, "Classical Still Life Painting" Oil Painting Workshop is for beginner to advanced painters. Leah Lopez is a nationally recognized, award winning, traditionally trained artist teaching at the esteemed New York Academy of Art as well as conducting workshops around the country. Inspired by the oil paintings of th emasters, this workshop will cover the essential skills needed to achieve luminosity and depth with paint. Students will make significant advances to their other paintings of portraits, figures and landscapes as well. Early bird discount is available if paid by Aug. 23. Cost is $295

High Tide Women's Weekend--October 1-2, 2010

32nd Annual Amelia Island Antiques Show & Sale--February, 2011

This annual antiques show and sale to benefit the Amelia Island Restoration Foundation will be held at the Atlantic Avenue Recreation Center. Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance--March 11-13, 2011

An annual spring event that brings together a remarkable collection of vintage automobiles, from classic touring cars to historic race-winning one-of-a-kind vehicles.  Each event features a well-known car marquee and a world-famous Honorary Chairman.  Vehicles are displayed and judged, with prizes for Best in Show, Best in Class, and other significant categories.

47th Annual Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival--April 29 – May 1, 2011

The Annual Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival features an array of activities for adults and children. The Shrimp Festival will dish out boatloads of fresh seafood and shrimp dishes, as local volunteer organizations prepare and serve an astounding assortment of menu items, including shrimp pie, shrimp twisters, crawfish, and shrimp ice cream. The Fine Arts and Crafts show will feature works from more than 300 award-winning artists and craftspeople.
